I will be offering these via pre-order, only, oncer per year, in March, during the annual Specialty Adapter Run. They will be available again in 2025.
Before I even go thru the trouble to quote the manufacturing cost of these prior to the "Run", I REQUIRE DEMAND TO BE SHOWN. To show that you intend to buy one of these for the 2025 Run, please order a decal by adding this item to your cart and check out.
Simply as a very rough guess, these adapters should be between $800-1000.
The final cost of the 2024 batch was $809 per adapter kit. Thank you to all who contributed!
Note, if you need motor mounts, 1" body lift, a BHW adapter, or a 9-1/4" flywheel, please contact me to order those options separately. To keep this simple, I am not going to flood this product page with all those extra options, but they ARE available to you. This kit will come with the 10" flywheel by default.
The Clocked VW 1.9 TDI to R150 Adapter Kit will mate your VW 1.9 TDI donor motor to your stock Toyota 5-Speed manual R150 transmission with the engine clocked 15° towards the RH side to help clear steering/suspension in Suzuki Samurai's, as well as older (≤95) Toyota's. All hardware is included, as well as the adapter plate, dust shield, custom pilot bearing (commercially available), starter spacer, and custom ARP flywheel bolts. You also have the option to add a brand new, stock-sized, 9-1/4" flywheel, or upgrade to the 3.4L's 10" flywheel. The flywheel is machined to the TDI crankshaft pattern and is ready to be bolted on. The new flywheel comes neutral balanced. The 9-1/4" flywheel uses your stock 1988-1995 clutch. The 10" flywheel uses a clutch from a 1996-2004 Toyota Pickup/4Runner V6 4x4. The throwout bearing must match whichever bellhousing you're using; if you're using a 1990 bellhousing, you'll need a throwout bearing for a 1988-1995 V6 Toyota Pickup/4Runner 4x4. You can use a starter from a 3VZE or a 5VZE. The 3.4L starter has a higher 1.8KW output option referred to as a "Cold Weather Package" option.
This kit works for any TDI as well as the 1.8L gassers, as they all share the same block pattern. For the BHW, a special pilot bushing is available. Keep in mind that the turbo-to-starter clearance is minimal, and you may need to relocate your turbo or run an aftermarket manifold/turbo with this clocked arrangement.
